The Ace of Swords tarot card shows a hand that is pulled out of the clouds. It is cloaked in white. The Swords card connects to the air element which governs the mind, thought and intellect. The Ace cards are the first cards of the four suits, when an Ace is brought up in a tarot reading it always signifies new beginnings and a new direction in life.

The sword is held upright which again connects to the mind, this card is urging you to decide, be decisive. At the swords tip, there is a wreath and a crown, both signify success and having a clear mind.

The background of the barren lands are indicative of the mind and deep thought, and the nature of the intellect.
